Apostolic Development
Just as St Paul and his colleagues were “ambassadors for Christ,” so YOU can be an apostle as you collaborate in our mission—to be a believing heart in the center of the world of cyberspace. In ever new ways people are searching for meaning. Jesus is the answer for every searching heart. Through our publishing, book & media centers, websites, apps, music, media literacy presentations, radio programs, workshops and media retreats, we bring Jesus to a world hungering for the Gospel of Love. YOU can help us continue and always progress, so that Pauline.org will be for the digital world what Pauline Books & Media has been in the world of bricks and mortar:
-
“a comfort zone for all seeking nourishing spiritual material” (Louis)
-
“a guarantee for those of us struggling to make good choices” (Robert)
-
“a place where the Word of God comes alive and penetrates the heart” (Isabel).
Education
The Education Fund enables the Daughters of St. Paul to discover new ways of proclaiming the Gospel in a world constantly transformed by media. Our founder, Blessed James Alberione, once told us that the world was our classroom. The Sisters need sound doctrinal & professional education to be expert writers, communicators, presenters, innovators, evangelizers.
Sr. Kathryn James Hermes has an M.T.S. from Weston Jesuit School of Theology. Her self-help books combine practical advice with insightful spirituality and have kept her signature book: Surviving Depression: A Catholic Approach on bestseller lists for over six years. Sr. Carmen Christi Pompei and Sr. Rebecca Hoffart have both received their Masters in Spirituality from Creighton University with specialization in spiritual direction. Sr. Carmen is now our novice formator and Sr. Rebecca is our postulant formator.
With your contribution YOU can help us form and educate young women entering our community to meet the media needs of a world yearning for the Gospel.
Vocation
Within the Pauline Family, Christ’s call to priestly, religious and lay vocation—single and married—demonstrates that the communion envisioned by Vatican II is achievable. In building up the Body of Christ, this communion offers hope to our fragmented world. Our national vocational director, assisted by four regional vocationists, walk beside many young women as they learn to listen to and respond to God’s call to them. The 15 young women in our initial formation program testify to the tremendous value of vocation work. Your contribution enables us to extend our vocation work to college campuses and national youth gatherings. It is thanks to donations such as yours that our vocation can gather from around the country at Texas A&M to share the Pauline life with one of the largest campus ministry groups in the United States.
Health & Retirement
We invite you to help enhance the quality of life of our elderly and ill sisters. Our community receives only partial help for health care and minimal assistance (the annual NRRO collection) for our sisters aged 70 and over.
Meet Sr. Mary Nazarene, one of the 25 sisters in the over-70 age bracket. Sr. Nazarene entered our congregation in 1938, during the difficult depression years. Sent to college at the cost of great sacrifice, she obtained a master’s degree. For over half a century, she instructed our candidates, translated manuscripts, operated bindery equipment and served in our book & media centers. In 2009, at age 90, she had the joy of celebrating her 70th jubilee. She’s happy to look back on all her years as a “jack of all trades,” in the Lord’s service.
Your contribution to our health and retirement fund will enable us to continue providing quality care for sisters who have spent their entire lives serving God and his people through the communications apostolate.
Facilities & Maintenance
The Facilities Fund provides for the maintenance and upkeep of over 25 convents and other buildings in which the sisters live and carry out their mission across the country. Generous donations in the past have enabled us to replace aging roofs, boilers, and recently an HVAC system in our infirmary as well as our retreat house. These are the places where the mission happens and for the care of the sisters.
